Rudy Acosta earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Legal Studies at the University of California Santa Cruz and a Masters in Education at Pace University in New York. He started his educational career teaching 7th grade, Math and Science, in the South Bronx through Teach for America (TFA). After his service to TFA, Rudy moved to Los Angeles and continued teaching Math at the KIPP Academy of Opportunity charter school. In the last couple of years, Rudy has worked as an implementation consultant for Kaplan K12, helping various schools and school districts throughout Southern California in improving student achievement and teacher development. Rudy will work with Dr. Patricia Burch researching Supplemental Educational Services and other forms of privatization that affect K-12 policy.
